Woolwich Works Presents… (Archived)

until 21:30 | Live @ Woolwich Works

A spectacular evening of stand-up comedy this July for Woolwich Words & Sounds. For one night only we’ve put together this unmissable line-up of five of the funniest comedians in the country right now.

Jamali Maddix
Critically acclaimed comedian and host of Vice’s ‘Hate Thy Neighbour’ and C4’s ‘Adventures in Futureland’, Jamali’s completely unique voice and style make him one of the most sought after comedians working today. With an assured stage presence, he already has the aura of a comic well beyond his years. His last tour sold out shows across the globe, playing the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America.

He is a regular on the series of Never Mind the Buzzcocks for Sky and was one of the most anarchic Taskmaster contestants the show has ever seen. Alongside this he was a regular contributor for Frankie Boyle’s ‘New World Order’ (BBC2) and has been seen on on ‘Live at the Apollo’ (BBC Two), ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ (More4), This is My House (BBC1), Dara Ó Briain’s ‘Go 8-Bit’ (Dave) as well as many others.

Fern Brady
Known for being totally unique and completely fearless, her caustic wit, exceptional writing and electric stagecraft have made Fern one of the UK’s hottest comedy stars. As seen on Live from the BBC, Live from the Comedy Store, The Russell Howard Hour, and Live at the Apollo. Featured in Vogue as one of the Top 5 Female Comedians as well as the Telegraph’s top 5 young comedians to watch, Fern’s career has gone stratospheric in the last 18 months.

Alfie Brown
Alfie’s firebrand style of comedy has been forged from years of pushing boundaries and experimentation. Natural stage presence combined with explosive material makes for a thrilling performance every time he hits the stage. Constantly evolving and striving for ways to innovate, Alfie can move effortlessly from hour-long, idea-driven shows to tight club sets. Alfie’s last hit show ‘Imagination’ sold-out runs in Edinburgh, at Soho Theatre and on a UK and European tour. It was released as a special to critical acclaim and view counts in their tens of thousands on Youtube.

Lara Ricote
Lara Ricote is a twenty-something-year-old storyteller, improviser, and stand up. She’s Mexican, American and Spanish but she’s based in Amsterdam because she’s morally opposed to consistency. She spent the pre-pandemic year doing stand up in South America because she’s also funny in Spanish. She has just won the 2021 Funny Women Stage Award which catapulted her onto this website.

Leo Reich
Leo is a stand up comedian, writer and winner of the 2Northdown New Act of the Year competition 2020. He’s written and performed content for ITV1’s ‘Jonathan Ross’ Comedy Club’, Comedy Central’s ‘At the Edinburgh Fringe’, E4’s ‘Remote Comedy by The Paddock’, and Dave’s ’The Comedy Guide to Life’. He performs his brand of flamboyant, incisively written stand up across the country and is currently working on various scripted projects with 2Brothers, BBC Studios, Sky Studios, and Broke N’Bones.
