Two of the most exciting rising stars on the UK comedy scene, Jodie Mitchell and Hannah Platt, bring their Works in Progress to 2Northdown!

Hannah was a finalist of the BBC New Comedian of the Year Award in 2019. She’s been described as ‘A voice of a new generation’ by The Skinny and ‘a voice with something to say’ by Chortle, never shying away from sensitive topics with brutal honesty and quick wit. Recently she’s starred in her own Laugh Lesson for BBC3 and written on The News Quiz and the Now Show for BBC Radio 4. She prides herself on her ability to take difficult and complex topics and turn them into sharp, refreshing gags.

Jodie Mitchell is a stand-up comedian, writer, podcaster and Drag King. They co-founded the queer women and non-binary comedy night sensation ‘The LOL Word’ and write and perform as their macho, Glaswegian alter-ego John Travulva with Pecs Drag Kings, with whom they won an Off-Broadway Award in 2020. Jodie co-hosts cult hit podcasts ‘Secret Dinosaur Cult’ and ‘The Drag King Cast’, has been a Funny Women Awards finalist, and recently wrote on Sex Education Season 3.
